Substack Benefits, Shopify Thank You Page Change, Printify Changes – ECH News

Is it warming up where you are? We’re having a mini false spring break this weekend, and I’m thrilled to be out of the freezer!!!
The warm weather has me energized and wanting to run do all the things!!!
But I’ve been putting my extra energy into my very long to do list that I had to put on ignore while I was in the final stages of getting my 2 new Substack Guides released.
I’ve got tutorials for you coming up this week in the Shopify Digital Downloads course.
For now, let’s jump into the news.
Substack Tips
Going Big on Substack
Y’all, I’m so pleased with how my posts are being received on Substack!!!!!!
I could not ask for a better start for a new “blog”.
I’m picking up folks who didn’t know me before, and that’s exactly why I’m posting there – new eyeballs and growth.
I’m seeing double and triple the views with each new post.
I’m very seriously considering a mastermind group for how to use Substack in conjunction with your current WP site and newsletter. Let me know if you’re interested.
Substack Workshop
On the 27th, we’ll be doing a live Substack Workshop in the BlogAid DIY SEO course.
I’ll be showing folks around the platform.
And I’ll be sharing my stats and such too.
How to Follow Folks – Free Post
I think Substack is THE place to follow folks.
You get to see who you follow and subscribe to – you can’t say that on many other platforms these days.
Even if you’re not ready to publish on Substack, I think you would really enjoy following folks there, as most all of the writing is thoughtful and helpful.
See my post on ECH for Substack: How to Subscribe and Follow that will help you understand what you’re seeing when you follow a link to a Substack article.
Asking for Optin First
You can read the Feed and free Publication articles without giving Substack your email address, which is the first thing it asks you to do.
Some folks are put off by that – but it disappears after you get your own Substack account.
And that is the point – and you benefit.
Think about it.
Substack encourages subscribers on their platform – where they can send notification of new posts.
That helps ensure you see who you subscribe to – and it ensures folks who subscribe to you see your content.
And it costs you NOTHING.
Where else can you blog and send an email or in-app notification for free that guarantees your followers see it?
Part of a Clan
Another benefit of being on Substack is that creators there support one another.
It’s called Restacking (like reTweeting) a Note (what Substack calls tweets).
I’ve found several good folks to follow because folks I subscribe to Restacked one of their Notes, or shared their Post.
And it’s a culture thing on Substack. You’re part of a clan.
Follow Me on Substack
Now that you know how to Follow and Subscribe on Substack, I hope you’ll follow me there.

Publish Video Straight to Substack
Until now, Substack required that you post/upload video via desktop only.
But, since they are now on a kick to have more livestreaming on the app, they also want us to do more “in the moment” type video.
And that means being able to upload from your phone – where you likely recorded the video.
I know of plenty of OG writers on Substack that don’t want to see this platform turn into another TikTok.
But, ever since Aaron Parnas brought over his 1 million TikTok subscribers just prior to the ban, Substack is seeing the light about video followers.
Shopify Tips
Update Thank You and Order Pages
Shopify is sending out emails for folks to update these pages.
Here is a link to their upgrade guide
The reason they want you to do this is because the current pages use their Liquid code language.
They are trying to upgrade their entire system to use standard HTML, CSS, and JS.
They updated all of their Shopify-built themes to those standard languages last year.
The deadline for updating your Thank You and Order Pages is Aug 2026.
But why wait?
Do it now and avoid more email reminders about it.
Printify Tips
Printify Changes Coming?
Y’all may know that last year, Printify acquired its biggest competitor, Printiful.
They left both companies alone, as far as changes to this point. I’m guessing that they needed to map out a plan, and that they didn’t want to disrupt Q4 holiday sales last year either.
So, I expect to see changes, mainly to Printiful this year, and I’ll keep you posted.
Printify Price Increases
What we are seeing changes on right now with Printify are price increases on both base products and shipping rates.
Some vendors went down in price, some went up.
If you have a Printify account, you likely received an email that encouraged you to check your product prices. That’s especially true if the base material price increased. You may need to raise your prices so that it doesn’t eat into your profit margin.
You could also consider switching vendors for that product too, but check the difference in quality.
I always order a sample before I release a product for that reason.
